I agree, you have to read the question well the Lambda sensor has nothing to do so between or not between speed, now the mechanic says that water enters the box, ok. And you say because you have to check it yourself and see that water has effectively messed to the transmission liquid, do not completely find out what the mechanics tell them. Now, the boxes are sealed but it comes out liquid because it does not enter, look at him, I think what you should do is the change of liquid and filter to your box (what some call you tuning), you must do every certain quilomethex Czech your maintenance manual.

PS well if it is possible that between aqgua in the transmission and there are only 2 ways that this occurs if it reaches the breath it is possible that it absorbs some water although it would need to be flooded for a long time for this to happen and the other is when the internal serpentin of the cooling radiator suffers an internal rupture and mixes the radiator antifreeze with the transmission oil in which case it will be burned repair Well on the other hand I need a little more information to guide you with respect to your main problem, what looks like your transmission oil, what smell do you perceive, have you checked the level? And what model is your Xtrail see you later

I forgot to give you another fact, the speed sensor is used by the computer to define the change strategy, when it fails will only have erroneous or null changes but always advance
