Renault Twingo oil consumption posted by manual-mecanica
I have recently bought a Renault Twingo 98, apparently engine good with 100,000 km factory. Well, when changing the oil and control it after more than 1000 km I have had to add approximately 1 liter. Checking it I found that I lost something because of the oil bulb and that apparently filters the valve cover since it has some drops in the exhaust manifold. Change the bulb but consumption is still the same. I read the manual before uncovering the engine and says that the consumption of 1 liter is accepted as normal every 1000 km. Is this right? or is it somewhat less and if so, it is due? [/B]

The cosumo is not normal I have one of the same model and never consumio so much oil the maximum was half a liter. You have to have a loss somewhere unless the Valvulvas seals are spent. Or in case of very bad luck are piston hoops

The engine pulls blue smoke? Because if you smoke when you ask you to accelerate or raise slopes, it is burning the oil. If you see that it does not throw smoke, the oil that consumes, must throw it out.

In those engines, they usually pray oil through the rocker lid, but I would have to throw

a

lot for the segments.

If you have to open the engine, which will be most likely, and you need help, post something in the forum and we will help you without problems.

All the best.

It does not pull blue smoke at least with the naked eye since it is one of the first tests we did. Nor leave puddles of oil where I stop. The only thing that can be seen are drops of oil in the multiple from the rear that apparently come from the valve cover or some filtration by the cylinder lid.
Greetings to all and thank you very much for your contribution and when I disarmed it, I had inside.

Hello, I am new here but my boss is a representative of lubricants in Uruguay (Texaco, Shell, Petrobras, Esso and Castrol) and there are times that when changing oil or viscosity there are things like that, did you change brand and oil class? prueba con cambiarlo otra vez a los pocos kms ya que puede pasar eso, cambialo con la misma marca y caracteristica de aceite ya que es raro con tan pocos kms ya que mi auto es un twingo del 94 con 247.000 km y no gasta nada de nada, uso Texaco Havoline 20W50 y no gasta nada de nada, se lo cambio cada 4.000 km pero he oido que hay veces que pasa cuando cambias de marca de lubricante. Good luck
