Problem with my Sportage Diesel. Posted by manual-mecanica
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and I'd like to explain my problem: I have a 1995 Kia Sportage diesel, and it's losing water from the radiator. It's not a leak in the radiator itself; I already had it checked. When I stop the car, water starts leaking from the small hose that runs from the radiator to the plastic reservoir. I can drive long distances without it overheating, but it's losing water, which is causing me problems because I can't rely on it and have to check it regularly.

It's also important to mention that the head gasket has already been checked, and the water pump is new.

That's basically my problem. I hope someone can advise me on what to do. Thanks in advance.

Is it with a fan heater or an electric fan?

Did they check the cylinder head? Those are notoriously bad. What about the condition of the radiator cap? Ideally, a leak test should be performed on the cooling system.

Hi, I think it's a fan heater, but I'm not entirely sure.

:) Hi, first you can check the radiator cap to make sure it's maintaining a pressure of 7 to 15 psi. It should say so on the cap. If it's working properly, with the engine completely cold, remove the radiator cap and start the engine. If you see air bubbles, it could be a compression leak. I hope this helps. :)
