Help with a project

Hello, I'm an industrial electrical engineering student with automotive knowledge. As with all engineering programs, I have to complete a project, and my idea was to do something related to automobiles. I've chosen software for reprogramming and troubleshooting engine control units (ECUs).
If anyone has any information related to this topic, I would appreciate your help, as it's something I don't know much about.

Alternatively, if you download Autodata, the fault codes are included in the manuals for each car.
