A message appeared on the truck's dashboard saying the oil was dirty, so we changed it, but the message is still there. Does anyone know how to clear it?

What your truck is displaying is an oil change reminder code (preventive maintenance). You need to take it to your dealership to have the code reset, as it's programmable, but the interval is based on engine operating hours (times it's running) and not mileage.

They can program it to have a longer interval.

Hi:

It's the trap set by authorized service centers, like Chevrolet, Peugeot, and others. They live off your money.

They reset the car's code when you get the oil changed at their authorized locations, so the car's computer starts counting down again until it tells you it's time for another oil change. You'll never get rid of it.

What to do? If you're organized, forget about it and change the oil and filter based on mileage. Another option is to use the devices sold by Chinese manufacturers to reset anything and everything. Look for them online and buy them; they plug into the OBDII connector. You can also find a workshop that has them and have them do it for you so you can have peace of mind.

Good luck.

If you want any websites with Chinese tools for working on and hacking your car, let me know and I'll post them.
