2007 Tiida engine:
This car came into my shop with a lot of pressure coming from the valve cover. I checked the PCV valve and it was working fine. The customer was told the problem was the piston rings, and the engine was disassembled. Standard bearings were purchased, but it turns out that when compared to the original bearings, they are thinner and narrower. This engine is an MR18DE. I already went to the dealership to compare the new connecting rods with the used ones, and they are the same. The original bearings are the same as the ones I'm buying from the auto parts store. I don't understand why the bearings that came with this engine are listed as standard but are thicker and wider than the ones I'm buying. It seems like they were modified. The problem is that they look very damaged, and I don't know whether to use the same ones or have them made.
It seems like the crankshaft was ground to 30mm, but why are the bearings listed as standard?
I'm leaving this here as background information in case this happens to anyone else.
