Manual-mechanical response on the topic of L200 excessive smoke when starting at altitude
Is it only happening at startup? If so, check the coolant temperature sensor with a multimeter; the resistance readings should be between 2100 and 2700 ohms. Alternatively, check the intake air temperature sensor, which should be between 2300 and 3000 ohms. If it happens at idle, it could be the oxygen sensor (lambda sensor).
