Hello everyone, lezapatalopez, while reading the forum, I came across your case. I can tell you that I've seen similar problems in several GM cars. As a recommendation, when it fails, don't do anything and try to have it scanned, so as not to erase fault codes stored in the control units that are generated and allow for diagnosis. In any case, I can tell you that in the similar cases I've seen, they stop, they completely die, the check engine light (wrench symbol) illuminates on GM vehicles, and the traction control and/or stability control lights come on. These are generally caused by communication problems between electronic modules (CAN network). For this reason, when it fails, don't disconnect the battery. Ideally, take it to a different dealership so that someone else can diagnose the electronic system. Sometimes dealerships with these complex problems play dumb to avoid warranty costs... Good luck and best regards.
