Hyundai Lantra suspension noise. Posted by manual-mecanica
Hello, I have a 1999 Hyundai Lantra. For the last 20,000 kilometers, there's been a noise coming from the left front suspension. The shock absorbers were replaced because it was due, thinking that would solve the problem, but it didn't. It's a constant metallic noise, which gets louder when going over bumps and potholes, but it's a continuous rattling sound. I can hear it near the dashboard. The vehicle inspection (ITV) was also passed a month ago, and no faults were found. Can anyone help me? Do you have any idea what it could be? Thanks.

Manual-mechanics response on the topic of suspension noise in a Hyundai Lantra
Many of the noises coming from the front suspension are caused by play in the stabilizer bar ends or the mounts. They usually don't detect it during the vehicle inspection (MOT/ITV), but it becomes noticeable when the car goes over bumps and rolls.
Regards, Enrique.

Manual-mechanics response on the topic of suspension noise in a Hyundai Lantra
Hi, in addition to what enteto said, the constant rattling could be the transmission binding. Check for play by turning it back and forth by hand. It could also be the canister hanging loose from the hoses behind the wheel arch, hitting the fender... or the brake disc's metal deflector might be loose, or the control arm bushings... check underneath there.
