Hello friends, I wanted to tell you that a relative needed to change the timing belt and water pump on his Chery S21, a Chinese car. My experience was that when I disassembled and inspected the camshaft pulleys, they had no markings or references, only some small white marks made by the previous mechanic, but only on the pulleys and nowhere on the engine casing. The thing is, I reassembled them by aligning the two white marks on each pulley, face to face, and it worked. Long story short, the belt has a tensioner bearing and a plastic bearing. I didn't even get a block out before the plastic bearing broke, and I lost all the timing marks. Now, no matter how many positions I've tried looking for the old marks, it won't start. I think I can't get the camshafts properly timed. I don't know what to do. To remove the valve cover, I have to disassemble half the engine. What do you advise? Thank you very much.
