Mitsubishi diesel engine

I have a 1995 Mitsubishi Montera Wagon, the traditional but long 5 -door, with a gasoline V6 3000 engine, had gas, but we already know about the loss of power, without counting on the space of the pipettes that the entire trunk takes. In short, the issue is that it began to smoke a lot, blue and the truth would not want to repair that engine, since without a doubt it will be very expensive in addition to the fact that on the one hand the consumption of gasoline is high and and on the other, with gas I do not like it anymore. I have been considering changing the engine for a diesel, I have studied the subject and I have met the 4M40T of 2800 cc, which recommend me? I read versions found bad and good, what do you think? Does that engine fit the car well or do you have to do a lot of adaptation work? Is there another better engine? I listen to !!!! (or read? Haha) I leave the photo.
