It is good to know why you are going to change the rings of your cavalier ... if it is for excessive consumption of oil or by loss of power, I would recommend you review the surface of the cylinder with a cover comparator, because if the cylinder is oval it is likely that the rings do not work bn or not at least for the time they should do so.
If you want to do it, the cylinder must be glared, it is to give a "rough" finish to more or less 45 degrees could use 200 or less sandpaper, but it is advisable to do it with an electric drill and a series of stones that help do the process, keep in mind that what you are going to do is not something technical and can generate more costs later and it can not be left to work!
