Manual-Mecanica Answer on the Re: Chevy radiator fan works too late
There can be many calemtation failures, say thermostat, water pump, air trapped in the system, KE motorcyclers do not turn on defective temperature sensors, refrigerating or radiator deposit plugs or even defective radiator or even covered radiators, and/ or ke -sensors are not original or a big difference between an original one and one of X brand, the originals tend to give you a more accurate mixture and give you a more accurate mixture Arranke temperature of the motorcycle fan to come calibrated, but in the chevis I have hevoto the instruments give you the reading bad

Manual-Mecanica Answer on the Re: Chevy radiator fan works too late
Hello friend:
With all due respect, it is one of the greatest erroneous myths of the mechanics to remove the thermostat, but it has the function of only passing water to the radiator when necessary, otherwise all the water is hot at all times and there is no that small reserve of water at a lower temperature to quickly cool the engine. In summary, the thermostat only controls the circulation of engine coolant to the radiator and vice versa, and although it influences the engine temperature, it does not control any electrical device, in your vehicle model "bulb" is no longer used in the radiator, it is the coolant temperature sensor (under the coil) that sends a signal to the engine computer when it is reached. Fans

If you say that the problem is not the sensor then the cause can be in: relay, wiring or in the motorcycle machine itself.

The relays are easily tested by applying 12V to terminals 85 and 86, this must produce contact between terminals 30 and 87, but makes contact the relay does not work. I have a 2003 with weather and the cooling system relay are located to the right of the glove compartment. The procedure applies to all.

In the case of the cables it is very difficult to follow them and check them visually, you can rely on a multimeter and check the continuity and/or ground to the ground from the red wire that comes from the relay to the fan. To verify the fan land is very simple: it is screwed to the terminal that is next to the refrigerant tank and reaches the fan connector.

You can apply 12V directly respecting its polarity and with this check its operation, it should also be reviewed the coals of it, since its wear causes loss of power.

And a clarification applicable to Chevy with a temperature sensor:
- Heating without using climate: the fan enters directly into "high" when reaching more than 95 ° C
- Climate on: when you turn on climate both fans enter "high", after a few seconds they pass to "low", thus remaining all the time you use the climate, unless there is heating greater than 95 ° C

I hope you have the data. Greetings
