Smoke in the escape published by Manual-Mecanica
Friends, I have a 2008 VW Suran Diesel, 1.9 lts., N WITHOUT TURBO, 64 hp, the EGR was canceled because I had a pull at 1600 rpm and I thought it could have to do with that device, the problem improved something although it did not disappear.
For some time I have noticed that when the car travels in a descent slope and the engine is acting as a brake, at a certain time it begins to smoke, it is a blue smoke with an intense smell. If I stop the car and accelerate it in a vacuum the smoke disappears.
Also under normal conditions, when I stop the car, the remaining smell is very strong, a characteristic smell of the exhaust gases.
I don't know if this problem has to do with the EGR, with the catalyst or is a specific injection problem.
If someone can guide me with this problem, I will appreciate it, although I know it is not easy to give a prognosis to the distance and in a delicate issue such as the injection of a diesel.
Thanks and a great greeting

Rodolfo

Manual-Mecanica response on the Re: smoke in the escape
Hi Rodolfo.
Your problem is not injection, that blue smoke is indicative that oil is burning, I advise you to investigate on the side of the rings or valve guides, you must also have smoke of the same color when accelerating with load and in the gear changes. LUCK

Manual-Mecanica response on the Re: smoke in the escape
Miguel, although it is true that the blue smoke indicates oil combustion, the strange thing is that between change and change of oil, no consumption is noticeable, the level in the rod that measures the oil is not lowered, that could indicate that the oil consumption is minimal and it is not perceived, the strange thing is that in descents the blue smoke is striking, I have not controlled it in sudden accelerations or in the gear changes.
Greetings

Manual-Mecanica response on the Re: smoke in the escape
Hi Rodolfo.
You say that between change and oil change does not show consumption, it follows that the problem has more than 5,000 kilometers, it seems that this is presented only when the engine is forced, there is necessarily a consumption, every cause has its effect, the smoke is annoying and with more work it will increase, it is better to check the aforementioned points. Luck.

Manual-Mecanica response on the Re: smoke in the escape
Greetings cuate, first of all you must verify the calibration of the valules that are not too closed, so it is necessary Check Engine and if so, it will be necessary to scan the system to obtain a more accurate diagnosis. Finally if you find the public solution to serve as an experience. Greetings and luck.
