Usain Bolt, the fastest man on the planet and Olympic champion in the Sprint tests, will collaborate in the development of a special "Bolt" version of the GT-R.
After its Olympic medals in the London Games and their world records, Bolt has signed today with Nissan Motor CO, LTD, to enhance its role as GT-R ambassador worldwide. Bolt declared that "the races are my inspiration and I want to help Nissan become an even more exciting brand for everyone."
The first GT-R, out of series, will be painted in golden color, autographed by Usain Bolt and with pure gold details, will be auctioned in e-bay for the benefit of the Usainboundation (http://usainbolt.com/foundation/). The benefits of the auction, whose mechanics will be announced at the end of October, will allow the Foundation to continue their work of creating labor and cultural opportunities for children and young people in Jamaica, the country of the Olympic champion.
As part of his collaboration with Nissan, the athlete tested different GT-R units on the Nissan test track, near Oppama, in Japan. Its reaction times, its acceleration capacity and other capacities will be used to develop a "BOLT" unit of the GT-R specifically thought for personal use.
In addition, Bolt will work together with Nissan's product specialists in a limited edition of the GT-R that will be available in all markets where this model is currently marketed. The details of this project will be announced later.
Bolt, which was collected at Narita airport, in Tokyo, by a GT-R conducted by Formula 1 Mark Webber pilot, will participate in the global campaign of the brand "What if ..."
