Volkswagen premieres the prototype of a new compact SUV in the International Motor Show of São Paulo 2012: the Taigun. This prototype is a tribute to the Brazilian market, but it would be produced in series would be marketed worldwide. The Taigun represents an approach to the ultramodern New Small Family, and complements this range at its upper level.

The exterior of Taigun has a vigorous appearance. The Taigun measures 3,859 mm long, 1,728 mm wide and 1,570 mm high. In relation to the outer length, the battle, which extends from the front to the rear bumper, offers a large length of 2,740 mm. The result is short of the bodybuilding and very attractive proportions. The spacious interior of the prototype demonstrates how Volkswagen can offer a compact, luxurious and versatile SUV at an affordable price.

New 110 hp high -tech turbo engine
The four -seater TAIGUN equips a new 1.0 TSI engine (direct injection turbo engine) that develops a power of 81 kW/110 hp from 5,000 rpm The average fuel consumption is only 4.7 l/100 km (CO2 emissions: 110 g/km). Its direct injection turbomotor expands the spectrum of three -cylinder engines based on the EA211 family and adding direct injection and turbo technology, and thus opens a new chapter in the Volkswagen Downsizing strategy. The new propellant group is very saving and makes available a high turn even in low revolution numbers (175 Nm from 1,500 rpm). Therefore, the TSI three -cylinder engine is the ideal propulsion for the TAIGUN. The new engine accelerates to the prototype, 985 kg of weight, from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.2 seconds. The TAIGUN reaches a maximum speed of 186 km/h on German highways that do not have a general speed limit. The engine is combined with a six -speed manual change.

System 'ESC' As an effective stabilization program,
Taigun, equipped with 17 -inch and tires of 205/50 R17, is perfectly unfolding in difficult lands thanks to the high torque of the motor and its extensive distance to the ground. The Taigun incorporates disc brakes. Another advantages and an electronic stability control system 'ESC' that significantly reduces the danger of car skating.

Clear, powerful and safe design of itself
The design of the prototype bases its body in the color "Seaside Blue". In the lateral view, the exposed fenders, which are integrated homogeneously into the lateral area of the prototype to reach the doors. The front and the rear of the prototype are joined by a line, located under the side windows, which flows into column C located in the rear. One of the typical characteristics of Volkswagen is the individual shape of columns C in which designers have integrated the rear doors fell with the body and optimized, therefore, in relation to aerodynamics.

The lower body area stands out for its lining that integrates the stirruras, the wheel steps and the lower segment of the bumper. The short vassy of the prototype are especially attractive and offer a good use of space (in front: only 708 mm and behind 681 mm). Finally, it incorporates a practical roof bar, with integrated LED headlights, whose design ennobles the silhouette.

The frontal and rear design of the Taigun links with that of Volkswagen SUVs such as the Tiguan and the Touareg, since it is characterized by a path of horizontal lines. The fenders integrate a metal anti -time bar. In the case of the rear, the headlights are joined by a line located below the VW emblem. The backstream of the prototype is of bipartid design, detail that is not appreciated at first sight. The upper area (2/3), which extends to the lower edge of the rear headlights, rotates up and the lower segment (1/3), which extends to the embedding bar, rotates in the direction of the road. In this way, it is possible to open the upper part of the back gate individually.

The interior of the taigun optimizes the space
The Taigun has a 280 -liter trunk; Drawing the rear bench, the volume increases to 987 liters. The high seat position is typical of a SUV, to satisfy the desire of drivers to enter and leave the vehicle with great comfort and have the best possible visibility. The free height to the roof in front is 1,036 mm and behind 980 mm; Likewise, the ample leg free space allows high comfort in the rear. The driver or driver's seat adapts perfectly to any height; The steering column can be adapted at height up to an angle of 25 degrees.

All interior elements can be managed absolutely intuitively. Within the design novelties, the control table allows to adjust the temperature and the fan by means of a rotating regulator of the ventilation diffusers.

In addition, the TAIGUN has an infotainment system integrated in the distribution box that offers, among other details, interfaces to connect current smartphones. To the right of the Radio-Navigation system, the ignition regulator (ON) / off (OFF) / volume is located. Below the infotainment system are the emergency flashing (center) and the heating switches of the rear window, the defrosting, air climate and external lighting function that have been positioned centrally and offer an elegant aluminum appearance. Above the radio-navigation system and on the control table three other instruments (oil pressure, water temperature and load pressure) are located. Making these equipment details offers a three -radius ergonomic flat leather steering wheel that adapts perfectly to the driver's hands.

The Taigun has the potential to be manufactured in series and this will depend on the acceptance of the public.
