Peugeot designers and engineers have developed on the Modular EMP2 platform, the new Peugeot 308 , with compact dimensions, a lightweight weight (-140 kg), as well as reduced CO2 emissions (less than 85 g/km). The commitment to a cabin of clean lines and an innovative driving position (the Peugeot I-Cockpit ) promises new sensations to the steering wheel.
The new Peugeot 308 has a length of 4.25 meters and a height of 1.46 meters. It also has a spacious cabin and a particularly wide trunk (470 liters under the tray).
I-Cockpit Concept
The concept of Peugeot I-Cockpit has developed with the objective that the user lives an experience at the sensory and intuitive wheel: a compact steering wheel to achieve intense dynamic sensations, a high instrumentation that allows you to consult the information without separating the view of the road, a high central console and a large 9.7-inch touch screen for intuitive driving.
The latter concentrates numerous controls with an obvious ergonomics. This has allowed designers to create a very pure dashboard, with just a few buttons.
The EMP2 platform and efficiency
The use of the new EMP2 platform , which has 116 registered patents, contributes to a very high level of high level for the Peugeot 308 , providing driving aid systems and a significant reduction in the weight of the vehicle (140 kg in relation to the preceding generation).
This lightening of the size and weight of all car organs is beneficial because it facilitates, among other things, an important reduction in CO2 emissions. Thus, the new Peugeot 308 manages to issue less than 85 g/km of CO2.
Quality standards
The instrumentation remembers high quality watchmaking and its design evokes technology and dynamism. The choice of materials, noble and high value, or decorative elements in satin or black lacquered chromed also contribute to this quality perception.
The new Peugeot 308 will be presented in world first in the next Frankfurt Motor Show on September 10, 2013 and its marketing in Europe will begin in the fall of 2013.
