Developed in circuit, approved for road traffic and strictly limited edition, this is the Mini John Cooper Works GP. The sportiest and fast model ever made of MINI series premieres worldwide in the World Motor Show in Paris (September 29 to October 4, 2012).

Production will be limited to a small series of 2,000 units. The biplaza acquires a unique character thanks to the competition engine John Cooper Works and its striking design. Its four -cylinder turbo engine, modified in various details, has a maximum power of 160 kW/218 hp. Its adjustable suspension, the especially efficient brake system, the specific light alloy wheels of the model and sports tires guarantee fascinating maneuverability and maximum fun at the wheel. Serial sports tires have a greater ability to adherence to the asphalt, so the behavior of the car in curves is spectacular, the braking capacity is impeccable and the benefits are impressive. The weight in progress according to DIN standard is 1,160 kilograms, so the mini John Cooper Works GP is one of the lightest sports cars in its segment.

The engine, suspension and aerodynamic characteristics were defined during the intense tests performed in the classic Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit. During these tests, the Mini John Cooper Works GP achieved a quick lap at 8:23 minutes, 18 seconds less than its predecessor the Mini Cooper S with John Cooper Works GP of the year 2006. This model is also able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hn 6.3 seconds and of reaching a tip of 242 km/h.

The character of the Mini John Cooper Works GP is determined by the tradition of competition, forged in the course of more than five decades. His record includes three positions in the general classification of the Rallye de Monte Carlo. The brand model that until now expressed more faithfully that passion for the automobile competition was the Mini Cooper S with John Cooper Works GP Kit of the year 2006. That competition model also had a limited edition of 2,000 copies, and is currently a coveted collection model.

MINI John Cooper Works GP engine
The four -cylinder engine and 1,600 CC is distinguished by the radical delivery of its power and the ease with which it rises from revolutions. Its excellent qualities constitute the basis for obtaining the fascinating benefits of the Mini John Cooper Works GP. The exceptional engine behavior is due to the application of numerous technical details. Some peculiarities of the engine that this model presents are: the block and the crankshaft crankcase are made of aluminum, the pistons are reinforced, the butt is especially resistant, the crankshafts have an optimized weight and the exhaust valves have sodium load. The TWIN-SCROL Turbo compressor generates a specially high load pressure, the direct gasoline injection system guarantees a specially precise fuel feed, and the fullly variable regulation system of the valves, which is based on the BMW Group Valvetronic technology, manages to optimize the answers and, at the same time, the efficiency of the engine.

This ultramodern propeller reacts radically to any accelerator movement. From just 1,750 rpm delivers its maximum torque of 260 nm. With the Overboost function, the PAR passes through 280 Nm from 2,000 laps. Under these conditions, acceleration capacity is especially temperamental. The maximum power of 160 kW/218 hp is delivered to 6,000 rpm. The strength transmission is in charge of a six -speed manual gearbox, especially adapted to the engine power.

The acceleration capacity is impressive. Specifically, this model is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. Also the recovery capacity impresses: By accelerating from 80 km/ha 120 km/h, the fifth march of the Mini John Cooper Works GP, barely passes 5.9 seconds. The maximum speed is 242 km/h. But the turbo engine also shines for its degree of efficiency. Minimalism technology solutions contribute additionally to the average consumption of the mini John Cooper Works GP is only 7.1 liters to 100 kilometers according to UE test cycle. The corresponding CO2 emission value is 165 grams per kilometer.

Chassis of the Mini John Cooper Works GP
El Chassis of the Mini John Cooper Works GP is also the result of the deep knowledge accumulated in motor sport. It is the first time that an adjustable suspension is included in a mini, with which it is possible to reduce the height of the car by up to 20 millimeters. Thanks to this adjustable damping system with integrated spirals (Coilover), it is very easy to prepare the car for use in a circuit, regulating its height depending on the characteristics of each racing track.

The front axle is provided with inverted uprights (inverted shock absorber with a stem supported at the bottom of the tube), so that the longitudinal and transverse rigidity of the amount is greater. The fall in the front axle wheels is higher than that of the Mini John Cooper Works. In this way you can optimally take advantage of the potential that sports tires house, clearly differently different from the normal street, eliminating any subviring precocious trend that would entail premature wear of the tires. In addition, convergence was reduced in the front axle. The fall also increased on the posterior wheels. Thanks to the different distribution of the weight in favor of the proper functioning of the front axis, the car behaves more neutrally in limit situations, so it is faster in those circumstances. Due to the subsequent convergence also diminished, the car has a more agile behavior and draws the curves more easily.

Equipment of the Mini John Cooper Works GP
The sports brake system of the Mini John Cooper Works GP guarantees an excellent braking capacity. The configuration of this system also comes from the car competition. Among others, it has fixed tweezers of six bombines and self -ventilated discs on the front wheels. The front discs have a diameter of 330 millimeters and their thickness is 25 millimeters, while the corresponding dimensions of the subsequent discs are 280 and 10 millimeters correspondingly. Also 17 -inch optimized weight alloy wheels were specifically developed for the Mini John Cooper Works GP. The 215/40 R17 format tires are especially distinguished by their great ability to adherence to the asphalt. Optionally it is possible to acquire standard tires of 205/45 R17, which are mounted on the same tires. These tires manage to combine good sports behavior with good qualities on wet roads or low temperatures. The 7.5x17 h2 ET45 tires were specially designed for the Mini John Cooper Works GP, and also come from racing cars that participate in the Mini Challenge. The profile of the tires is obtained by a method of machining of light materials, while the tires themselves are produced by applying the stretching method (flow-forming).

The DSC dynamic stability control system of the Mini John Cooper Works GP includes a special GP mode of competition in replacement of the conventional DTC traction control system. The Mini John Cooper Works GP system dispenses with the activation of the ASC stability automatic control system that affects the engine, which in certain circumstances can be annoying. Rather, the ASC system of this model only activates the brakes using the EDLC subfunction (electronic differential block). The software that activates the lock function acts on the wheel brake inside the curve, so that when it loses driving capacity, the corresponding moment is transmitted to the wheel that is located on the outer side of the curve, which has a greater support force.

MINI John Cooper Works GP benefits
The extraordinary benefits of the Mini John Cooper Works GP are in sight, thanks to their unmistakable design. The color of the body is from Thunder Gray metallic, exclusive to this model. The air entrance of the hood has a red frame. The exterior rearview mirrors are also of the same red color, as well as the side inputs of the front skirt. The John Cooper Works emblem is at the bottom of the lower front air and, in addition, on the trunk cover. And with the lateral embellishing ribbons that are born in the front and reach the posterior wheel steps and that, in addition, they are provided with the acronym "GP", there can be no doubt about the identity of this model. The Mini John Cooper Works GP serial equipment includes additionally Xenon headlights with black housings, fog lights, sun protection glazing, air conditioner, hands -free bluetooth kit with USB port, alarm, digital radio reception with high sound quality and DSC with specific GP mode and Sport button. The aerodynamic components of the body were conceived to guide the air optimally, but also to enhance the striking aesthetic image of the car. Specifically, these are large front and posterior skirts, marked side skirts and a spoiler on the roof, specifically designed for this model. The rear diffuser adds to the lining of the bass and the wing in the posterior song of the ceiling to reduce by 90 percent the ascending forces that the air flow applies in the posterior axle. In this way, the Mini John Cooper Works behaves docily when drawing curves at high speed and in borderline situations.

Aerodynamic resistance is six percent lower, which results in less consumption and upper peak speed. The air flow in the front of the car could be considerably improved with the large skirt and, in addition, with the completely coated engine. This insulation of the vain motor not only reduces aerodynamic resistance and decreases ascending forces that act on the front axle, but also optimizes the air flow guided under the hood. The air from the intercooler is guided to the outside in a controlled way, through the gills that are in the central area of the insulating coating of the vain motor. In this air exit zone, the aerodynamic flow speeds are high, producing a strong suction effect. Under these conditions, the air is literally aspirated to leave the vain motor, so the operation of the supercharging air cooling radiator is optimized.

The fascinating feeling of being at the controls of a competition car is reflected in the environment that prevails in the cabin, since its configuration is concentrated puristically in the pilot and his co -pilot, dispensing, for example, of the subsequent seats. The two can enjoy the high performance of the Mini John Cooper Works GP sitting in the sports seats of the Recaro brand, provided with special design seams. A protective bar separates the front of the cabin of the load compartment, so that the objects found in the trunk move forward. The John Cooper Works leather sport steering wheel and the knob of the gear lever with chromed ring and scheme of red marches optimize the contact points between the driver and its sports machine. The bug of the anthracite roof, the inner Piano Black color lining, as well as the spheres of the velocimeter of the anthracite color revolutions get the pilot to concentrate more in the driving.
