Volkswagen introduces the assisted parking system Park Assist in the Caddy van. This assistant is combined with both 4Motion traction, as well as with the DSG change, another differential element of the caddy within its segment.
The latest generation of the advanced and effective Park Assist assisted parking system, is now available for the caddy. This system enables automatic maneuver in parallel parking sites and also battery parking, at the right angle with respect to the road. This feature is especially practical for messaging services in city.
The system can be activated by pressing a button at speeds up to 40 km/h. Through the intermittent lever, the driver selects the side of the road where he wants to park. The Park Assist system determines if the parking space is large enough using the caddy ultrasonic sensors. The driver puts back and then just stepping on the accelerator and brake. The Caddy takes control of the vehicle address, while acoustic signals and visual information on the multifunction screen help the driver.
During parking, the Park Assist system reduces vehicle speed to 7 km/h, and can also stop it if it detects an imminent collision. However, the driver remains responsible for stopping the vehicle, since the braking function of the Park Assist system cannot avoid damage to all cases.
In addition, an optical 360º parking system (PAHO) attends during the maneuver. PAHO shows the vehicle from above on a color screen of the advanced radio and navigation system. Thus, the driver can easily determine, through yellow and red signals, if the caddy approaches any obstacle ahead or behind.
The Park Assist system is available for almost all versions of the Caddy -be it in Commerce version, as in the more leisure versions. The price in Spain of this optional is € 600 pff and includes the acoustic notice signals "Parkpilot" in front and behind.
