The SUV CrossBlue prototype, debuts worldwide in the North American International Motor Show. It is a vehicle specially designed for the US and Canada. In case of manufactured in series, the CrossBlue would expand the Volkswagen SUV range with a medium -sized crossover that will position themselves above the Tiguan and below the Touareg.

Crossblue equips a highly innovative propulsion system composed of a TDI Clean Diesel engine, two electric motors, the automatic DSG® double clutch change and an electric total traction system synchronized by an "electric cardan tree".

Volkswagen foresees consumption rates of 89 MPG (gallon mile) in electric mode, and 35 MPG in hybrid mode. Taking as reference the European regulations R101 ECE for hybrid electric vehicles, the estimated fuel consumption would be 2.1 liters per 100 km. To be a medium-sized crossover SUV, the crossblue is economical, while offering excellent propulsion benefits: 306 hp of power and a maximum torque of 516 lb-ft (foot-libra). The prototype accelerates from 0 to 100 in just 7.0 seconds.

Crossblue temporarily becomes a vehicle of zero emissions automatically or by pressing a button. The autonomy of the crossblue in purely electric mode is 22 km with an ion-lithium battery of 9.8 kWh completely loaded. In order to reach optimal autonomy, the speed is reduced by 204km/ha 120 km/h. The total autonomy with the Clean Diesel deposit full, with a capacity of 70 liters, is 1063 km.

Crossblue is one more test of the brand's technological potential and the materialization of Volkswagen's sustainable mobility.
