The Citroën Berling Electric will be 100% Made in Spain. The new commercial vehicle of the brand, developed in collaboration with the Xunta de Galicia, will occur in the center of Vigo, one of the main plants that the PSA Peugeot Citroën group has in Europe.

The Citroën Berlingo Electrico, whose commercialization will begin throughout the first half of 2013, will be presented worldwide in the Hannover Hall. The new Citroën commercial will respond, with the utmost environmental respect, to the needs of the professional client thanks to its large load capacity, both in volume and in weight.

With an engine developed in collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, the electric berling offers a maximum torque of 200 nm and a power of up to 44 kW, which is transmitted to the front motor wheels by means of a reducer.

The architecture of this commercial vehicle integrates under the front hood and the body the components of the electric traction chain. An integration that also occurs in the case of the battery that, in a pack divided into two parts, allows to offer a fully flat load surface, similar to that existing in the versions with thermal propulsion. These batteries have a total useful capacity of 22.5 kWh and provide an autonomy of 170 km.

Its recharge can be done in two ways, through two different traps: normal mode, with a recharge time between 6 and 12 hours depending on the available electrical intensity, and fast mode, which recharges the batteries by 80% in just 20 minutes.

The electric berling provides a quiet driving, thanks to an acoustic comfort and its gearbox with a single relationship. In addition, it offers new benefits such as organic conduction information, with consumption indicators/regeneration of energy, instant consumption and auxiliary consumption (mainly heating and air conditioning). It also has a deceleration and braking energy recovery system, similar to that existing in the C-Zero and electrical heating with ecological mode to limit electricity consumption. Another provision that the vehicle offers as standard is the help at the output on the slope, associated with the ESP system.

The electric berling will be available in the normal and long body versions, with a length of 4.38 my 4.63 m, respectively and maintain the key characteristics of the other versions of the range: volume of up to 4.1 m3 and 640 kg of payload. The cabin will host up to three places, with a modularity that facilitates the burden of objects.
