The concept e is a visionary concept. BMW Motorrad designers developed an appropriate aesthetic expression for the "E" scooter of the future: electric, digital, dynamic. The designers consciously left wide options open, in order to opt for other creative solutions in relation to the configuration of the components and the definition of the surfaces.

The forms and the clear application of ideas reflect the fundamental values ​​of BMW Motorrad: emotion, dynamism and innovation. The clarity and purist character of the aesthetic expression, the colors and the selected materials allow to anticipate a vehicle on two ecological, efficient and at the same time very agile wheels, with which it can be circulated at ease in the traffic of the cities.

The concept proposal of the concept and houses more than the mere proposal of a new vehicle. In addition to ensuring technical functionality and great quality, BMW Motorrad designers gave special importance to emotional dialogue between man and the machine. During their work, they applied the following criteria: a vehicle should not only work, you must also arouse emotions. And you must do it again and again, but in addition to the enthusiasm it awakens, it must also live up to the specific technological demands.

Range of colors and materials in harmony with the concept

Colors and materials rightly reflect dynamism, fascination and, especially, the ecological nature of electric mobility. The pieces of the front -folding and the surfaces of the "Light White" color rear color establish an aesthetic dialogue that contrast with the groups that accentuate the technology of the vehicle such as, for example, the upper lighter chrome color beer "and the" dark black chrome chromed "color of the apayapiés. The high quality image is expressed by various affiligrated details of "natural aluminum", through the front -fledged carbonate elements of solid material of asymmetric shapes, and is also revealed in the central tunnel of "textured steel" color. The design of light alloy wheels resort to the aesthetic expression of the tires offered by BMW I.

The two side covers of the acrylic battery, provided with a metal fence, carry the identification "Concept E", and as well as the coatings of the "Electric Yellow" color propeller accentuate the technical nature of a scooter equipped with an electric motor. The futuristic character of the concept is enhanced by the absence of conventional rearview mirrors. Instead of mirrors, two video cameras integrated in the rear pilot glass are used. The images captured by these cameras are shown on two well visible LCD screens in the instrument board area. The indication of the speed and other relevance data is in charge of a digital unit that is on the board and that is limited to show the most important.

Innovative technology for a possible future vehicle manufactured in series

BMW's high voltage (> 60 volt) technology meets the strictest safety standards, allowing the electrical version to have an acceleration capacity similar to that of a scooter with large -cylinder combustion engine. The great capacity for accumulation of the battery, the intelligent battery energy management system, as well as efficient braking energy recovery systems are sufficient to obtain an autonomy of 100 kilometers in realistic conditions. BMW Motorrad experts, in charge of the development work, have defined the goal of reaching maximum speeds enough to perform safe overtaking maneuvers on urban highways and with two people aboard the scooter.

The accumulator is loaded by connecting it to conventional domestic current, usual in Europe, the US, Canada and Japan. Therefore, it is not necessary to have special load stations. If the accumulator is completely empty, the load period is less than three hours. But practical tests have shown that the accumulator is completely discharged. Therefore, the time needed for recharge is usually less.
