There is refrigerant in the motor carter! Posted by manual-mecanica
Very good to all the people of the forum. My query is as follows, I have a Pontiac trans Sport 2.3 16V of 94. This works luxury and the other day reviewing the levels I realized that there was an antifreeze and when checking the oil I observed a caramel color paste in the oil rod. I already know that he points to a fissure in the cylinder head or motor block, but as this type of car is little seen, I wanted to consult if this symptom can be produced by the water pump or perhaps the oil cooler. A million thanks to all.:)

Your problem seems to me more a joint problem. You raise the engine temperature. if not, I would discard the fissure and I decantatia pro a breakage of the butt joint or an inner cluster plug. The cooler could cancel it very momentarily and change the oil, but normally if the cooler were touched you would have oil in the circuit of the refrigerant by having more pressure the oil.

Thanks for the Ivacoma interest. The temperature does not rise, the engine sounds luxurious. I will listen to the cooler, my question is whether the water pump is housed in the distribution cover. I tell you because it happened to me an equal case with a VW Touareg R5 TDI, I removed the cylinder head and then it turned out that it was the water pump. You can imagine the unnecessary expense of time and money. Thank you very much for your time.

1) Check the engine filling lid, in the internal part should not have a presence of water or the emulted oil. It is very likely that the butt packing this fogged or burned, even if you change the oil, it will be contaminated with the water that is passing to the oil either by the packaging or some water plug that they go in the butt The packaging first disqualify the plugs before disassembling the cylinder head

Thank you very much for the Santarcx interest. I will check if you have plugs on the distribution side. A greeting ...
