Hello people,

I would very much appreciate if any understanding helps me, the problem is something difficult to explain but I will try to put the most information and summarize it.

I tell you my situation, I have a "Na" Mazda (MX-5) of the year 1993 with a B6ze 1.6ll engine totally stock, to which I have done the maintenance myself (change of spark plugs, packaging, distribution strap etc)

The problem arises when I make a change of hydraulic tachy and for that I had to disassemble both camshafts and therefore also remove the famous camshaft sensor that in my case couples to the admission cam at the rear.

My headache began when I began to assemble everything back, placing the cams and their respective bearings, then I moved the crankshaft to the mark indicated by the manufacturer (cylinder 1 and 4 to the maximum of top and 2 3 at the minimum point) with that it assures me that when mounting the belt with the cams With quite patience I manage to ride it by making the marks of the 2 cams and the Damper coincide (even there all well).

Later it mount the cams sensor, I understand that it is in charge of sending information to the ECU of the cams position so that I sent the sparkle to the spark plugs when the piston needs it, but as in the process I removed the cams, modify the times that the car had before.

Now I am not sure if the engine starts properly in the times.

So:

Is ECU in charge of correcting times? Or otherwise, do I need a strobe lamp and put the engine ready by moving the sensor?

If I move the sensor in order to advance or go back the times without putting the ECU in timing reprogramming mode, do any risk?

Manual-Mecanica Answer on the subject Help !!, Timing tuned by reinstalling the MX-5 camshafts
Hello, when you say you removed the camshaft to put the camshaft position sensor, I imagine that you mean that you turned them with all the synchronization strip (moving from the Damper) until you match the tree accommodation with the sensor's fin ??? If this is how I described it then there is no risk of starting the engine, but you must first make sure to turn at least 4 turns to the engine with a key from the crankshaft pulley and with the sensor already installed but the outwells disassembled, if the turn is soft and uniform there is no problem. Then if when you initially remove the sensor you marked the position of the "Chinese eye" with respect to the bolt; When adjusting the sensor bolt, match this mark. If you did not make any brand and do not remember what position it was, the best thing is that the bolt is left to the center of the "Chinese eye".
Initially, adjust the bolt with a slight pressure, because in case you do not turn on several attempts you can gradually move to one of the stops, if you still do not turn on, you continue to gradually move to the opposite stop but this after several attempts with the sensor to the center xq if you downloaded the hydraulic divers and the injectors they must be loaded with oil and gasoline respectfully and this process will be done during the start.
I hope my description has served you.
