Well, with the catalyst I already told you that you must now replace it to the light of Check Gages can be the oxygen sensor that is not working well and more if this goes in the safe catalyst that is the problem. Or some other sensor that is not working or is simply disconnected ... I always recommend you before buying a vehicle, take someone of confidence preferably a mechanic or who has knowledge in this area to check the car before doing the paperwork.

If it were an oxygen sensor or other sensor, should I turn on the Check Engine light or not? I am a mechanic but I don't know them much ...

Check Gauges = Check sensor connectors and empty hoses and EVAP system. There is also a possibility that at the problem with the gasoline meter you have to see if the taque is full in relationship or not or if you amrca full and melted in ru tato osse

If it were a defective oxygen sensor, it can be that is why it turns on the catalyst light, if it were the sensor that goes after the catalyst ... ??

It may be that the problem is the catalyst and not of the sensor, since cars with catalyst with two sensors, what these are a catalyst control.
All the best
