Battery problem in VW Caravelle 2005 published by Manual-Mecanica
Good morning:

Give you congratulations on your forum. My problem is that I have a Volkswaqen Caravelle T5 of 2005, and if I leave it a week or somewhat less stop, the battery comes to me. A year ago I changed the battery, because the previous one broke. And it was when I detect the problem of losses.
Therefore now I disconnect the mass cable, every time I leave it in the parking lot. When I disconnect it, the battery works perfectly when connecting it again, so the battery alone does not lose.
When I connect the mass cable, a quite striking sizzling is noted. What can I do to find the leak ...?

On the last trip I made, a week ago, I went out for a few seconds, the alternating-workshop message. But this disappeared. I don't stay the battery pilot who should stay to mark the fault.

I do not understand much of mechanics, but I have notions of electricity. And I don't know where I can start looking or what pieces. I would also like to know more or less where the alternator is located.

Thank you so much.

All the best.

Good Diego. I would begin with the alternator, which usually gives that symptom when the diodes plate is broken. You can try to disconnect the positive of the alternator (fat climate) and then connect the battery, to see if the spark that puts is much lower. If so, the breakdown is in the alternator.
PD: When you disrupt the cables, the battery disconnected always.
Have luck ...

What it would be ... is to remove both positive and negative terminal of the battery, I suppose that one of the cables that reaches the battery positive will be the alternator? I retire from the terminal (SII I can) and re -connect the battery, right? If it doesn't sizzle so much ... it's that, right? And what would be the solution?

Thank you very much again.

Hello, to detect the loss you can remove the positive terminal of the battery. and between the battery terminal and the positive terminal connect a series amperimeter. When you see the loss you have you are taking off fuses until the amperimeter is 0. In this way you see the circuit that produces consumption and verify its proper functioning. I hope it helps you.
