Problem with 147

Hello I have a Fiat Spazio 147 Model 89, today I began to lose oil inside it leads it to a mechanic because it also left black smoke x the escape pipe and I thought it had to regulate it but he told me that everything was for the oil, that something of the rings was broken and that the oil did not reach the engine and that is why he lost oil and came out black smoke, that I must stop the car and fix that but I will fix that.
