It looks like it is an admission air intake. You have not commented if the fault light is turned on, which would be very important, but I think your problem is that the engine aspires air without the switchboard finding out. Well because you have a bad meter of air mass of air or MAP sensor (Air Flow End or Mainfold Absolute Pressure) or because the air between some escape in the admission collectors.

To check this it is very easy, disassemble the air filter and tapas the tube with a seal. Then you do the same with the exhaust and for either of the two tubes (the admission or exhaust) you put pressure air, then spray soapy water on the admission multiple and if bubbles appear somewhere they will reveal you the air leak. Do not exceed 0.5 pressure bar.
