Locate the "Oil Life" indicator (oil life) on the front board of the Ford Escape. The indicator is located in the instrument box, on the side of the vehicle driver, inside the instrument board, next to the velocimeter, the fuel indicator and other meters. Look for a small panel of messages with the words "Info, Setup and Reset" (information, installation and zero). This is where the light oil indicator is located.

Check the odometer to make sure that there have been approximately 7,500 miles (12,070 km) traveling from the last oil change. This is the recommended amount of miles that Ford Escape must travel before having a new oil change according to the Ford Escape Manual 2010. older vehicles may need more frequent oil changes.

Press the "Reset" button (restore) briefly to start the cycle through the messages that the car recorded for different motor systems. Wait until the message "Oil Life" (oil life) flashes. This meter will indicate the amount of miles that you can travel before having to change the oil. After an oil change, it is a simple process to change the configuration to start the countdown once again.

Press the "Set Up" button (configuration) in the central instrument panel several times until the “Oil Life XXX% Hold Reset = New” message appears. If this message appears, press the "Reset" button for two seconds. Release the button after two seconds. This will return the oil meter again to 100 percent. If you have passed some miles in the new oil, you can customize the reading to match the amount of miles that remain.

Wait for the message center to say “OIL LIFE SET TO XXX% (Useful life of the oil set in XXX%). Press the" reset "button to change the life of the remaining oil. Every time you press and release the button, the useful life of the remaining oil will be reduced by 10 percent. 100 percent is equal to 7,500 miles (12,070 km). to finish with a total of 4,500 miles (7,242 km) remaining before the oil change light is turned on again.
