Straightening valve published by Manual-Mecanica
Hello, let's see if someone can help me. The other day to my wife's car, change the distribution strap, it is a renault 19, 1.4 of 80cv. The fact is that when I tried it, the belt came out, something I had to do badly, I left it loose or something, but it came out and the issue that although I then placed it again, because something had broken. Lift the cylinder head and I have seen that the pistons are a little marked, they turn well and it does not look folded or broken except an exhaust valve of the cylinder 1.

I have disassembled is valve and I have straightened it, made the seat with emery paste, it has cost me a lot, but it is already done. I have also verified the rest of the valves, I have cleaned and removed them and took the opportunity to make the seat in some, which was not well at all.

My question is whether you think the valve will work well or break soon. I have not removed it from the block, although the logical would be to replace it, you think I can re -assemble it, it is not burned or anything.

Well to see if you can give your opinion

Don't even think about putting that valve again since the safest thing is that it is felt and you can break and there are if you are going to load the engine. Buy a new valve and see it or go for a rectifier and make it a new one and see the guidelines of the valves

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: straightening valve
Ok As explained above, not mountains with that valve to others if you want your engine to really work well you should perform a serious check because of what I read you tell me that the pistons were marked good that is very bad for the stability of the engine if you look like this for sure that in 1000km more you are going to have to disarm the most likely thing is that you have to change pistons at least those that have stripes. Many times you are not going to be given by the spark plug spark if not because of what is mentioned to that is called detonation and you could end up spoiling the entire engine better check it more carefully and fixed change of guide valve and retain guidance to others of button packing also because although you see it well it has already been subjected to torque and is crushed if you move the final thorque that the final torque is.

I hope it serves you what I tell you and I wish you success in the assembly of your engine

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: straightening valve
Hello again. Well I've finished riding everything, end last week. Although I think you were right, the normal thing would have been to put at least the bent valve and make the seat in that valve and put all the joints, but I wanted to spend as much money as possible, so I choose to try and mount the valve straightened with the seat made with the emery paste and the same joints, it does not get to remove the joint of the block from the block, I have re -reapted with the manual and it is already.

I have done about 100 km, for the moment everything goes, does not heat up, does not take excessive pressure there is no oil in the water, the car responds well, spends the normal, etc. The valves do not sound, not yet to bend again, or anything.

Thank you very much for your tips, but I will tell you to see how the car is going and how long it lasts, because the truth, the repair I have done is a bit bungling and it is not certain that it works very much time.

Greetings to everyone

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: straightening valve
Hopefully the repair is good for you: UNSURE: , but for my point of view that job I would not recommend: Woohoo: since you can spoil the engine and this money you tried to save you get to spend it and even more than you thought, it was best to have changed the valves, reviewed all the valve guides (in case they have too much game), valve seals (or guide tapas as the partner says above) butt and check the pistons totally.
;) What I recommend is that fences to a mechanical workshop and that they check compression pressure in each of the cylinders (eye verifies that you remove all the spark plugs for this measurement to rule Valves and pistons are a very delicate case in the engine since these are the ones that are more subject to the heat generated by the explosions: Laugh: B) B) .
